Littleton's FireFighters Foundation Ball 2010

The Littleton Firefighter's Foundation was created by the Littleton Firefighters Local 2086. The Foundation's aim is to aid those in need. We are a 501-C3 charity working primarily within our community to support the programs, people, and facilities that make a difference in the quality of the lives of those less fortunate.

This event was tons of fun! I mean who doesn’t like a good Firefighter auction? Yes ladies, they auctioned off some of the firefighters! I was in charge of helping with the auction and registration table. I met so many wonderful people that I am fortunate enough to call my friends. This organization was extremely hospitable and I cannot wait to work with them in the future. They will be hosting a Golf Tournament in September and I will definitely be there to show support. Thank you Eric for a rockin’ good time!

Dinner with the Girls - Girls Hope of Denver

Dinner with the Girls

I went to the Girls Hope home to have dinner with all of the girls and drop off some goodie bags. All of the girls have been busy with school and extracurricular activities. Aaliyah was the only girl that was at the house that night and she is gearing up for tennis. We are planning to cook and have a “girls night” at the house again very soon.

Soup for the Soul: St. Anthony’s Hospice

This was the 10th year for Soup for the Soul. This event grossed over $350,000 including in-kind donations to support the patients and families of Porter Hospice and St. Anthony Hospice. Marie Sevier was the Award of Courage recipient and it was amazing how many things she did throughout her life. She is such an inspiration to all! I will be helping with the Hike for Hospice in June. This is another event that helps raise funding for Porter Hospice and St. Anthony Hospice. To sign up for this event visit: www.hikeforhospice.org

Denver Children's Hospital Visit

The Denver Children’s Hospital was founded in 1908. The Children's Hospital set out to be a leader in providing the best healthcare outcomes for children. That calling has consistently made them one of the top 10 children's hospitals in the nation. I went to the Children’s Hospital to visit with the children and sign autographs. It was a ton of fun and I definitely plan on returning. They also host several fundraising events throughout the State of Colorado. For event information visit: www.thechildrenshospital.org

Excelsior Youth Center - Passport Party

The Excelsior Youth Center is a residential treatment program created in 1973, serving girls ages 11-18 with emotional and behavior difficulties. They are committed to the treatment and education of young females to enhance their successful reintegration into their families and their communities. I was in charge of greeting patrons at the event and helping with the silent auction. There were tons of great items at the silent auction and I had my eye on a few of them. It has been such an amazing experience working with organizations that help children and their families. The center has a lot of different fundraising and volunt eer opportunities in the Denver area, so make sure you check out their website!

Women's Lighthouse Project - Cookout for a Cause

The Women’s Lighthouse Project is the leading organization supporting and empowering women and their families living with HIV/AIDS. They support and empower women to live and thrive with HIV through education, advocacy and community. The Cook-Off for a Cause is an annual event held by this organization to provide funding for client services. For the competition, I was paired with Chef Brandon Biederman from Steuben’s in Denver. We had to prepare an appetizer, entrĂ©e, and a dessert with a random selection of ingredients. This was by far one of the best appearances that I have made so far. We had such a wonderful time cooking and making plenty of jokes in the kitchen. I contributed with my special grilled mushroom recipe! Who said Miss Colorado International could not cook?!?

Concerts for Kids Bowl A Thon

Concerts For Kids was founded on the belief that children are entitled to the best healthcare available and a quality education. For the past six years, Concerts For Kids has built strategic partnerships with organizations like Denver Children’s Home, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Denver Public Schools Foundation and various other children’s programs. Today Concerts For Kids helps to support more than 40 child‐focused organizations annually through its fundraising events and community service projects. In addition to the Annual Benefit Concert, Concerts For Kids hosts five ancillary, adult‐targeted e vents throughout the year.

I was extremely privileged to work with this organization at their annual Bowl-a-Thon. During the competition, I discovered that I was ambidextrous! The rules consisted of bowling with your opposite hand to “granny” style bowling. I am going to continue working with this amazing organization and help with their Community Day on May 22, 2010.

Colorado RV, Boat, and Travel Show

The Colorado RV, Sports, Boat & Travel Show is the largest outdoor recreation show in the region and included RV’s from RV America, a cooking seminar from Pat Mac and Mike Faverman, and a display of other recreational sports from hunting to fishing. I also had the opportunity to catch two live fish at the show! The show had everything from seminars to activities for children. Dianne Seymour was the Show Manager and she did a fantastic job at keeping everyone on their toes. Check out the picture I had made with the Robot courtesy of Comic Bots. If you missed the show this year, make sure you check out future dates for shows in the Denver area; I know I will!

Romp to Stomp Breast Cancer

The Tubbs Romp to Stomp out Breast Cancer Snowshoe Series is a snowshoe walk or race that happens at 7 locations in North America. The first Romp to Stomp events started in 2003 and since they the series has raised nearly 1 million dollars for Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. I was a volunteer at the event and helped with the t-shirt tent and the information booth. It was so cool to see everyone dressed up in pink and the amount of participants from all over the United States. One patron participated in every Romp to Stomp event in 2010! Now, that’s some mileage. It was excellent to see the community of Frisco, come together and raise money for such a wonderful cause. Thank you Suzanne for being such a great volunteer coordinator!

The Women’s Crisis and Family Outreach Center: Empty Bowl

The WCFOC is dedicated to reducing domestic violence and family conflict through advocacy, empowerment, violence prevention and intervention, services and education. At the event, professional and hobbyist potters donate 2,000+ hand made bowls. Each bowl symbolizes the empty place a victim leaves behind when escaping an abusive relationship. I met some wonderful people at this event and I was amazed to see how many volunteers contributed their time at the event.

American Heart Association 2010 Heart Ball

This event was such a beautiful fundraiser for the American Heart Association. From the VIP Reception to the live auction, everything was a blast. I was very fortunate to be apart of this event. Set-up started at 8:00am that morning and the party lasted until midnight. The Hyatt was a spectacular venue and live auction even had a Harley Davidson that you could bid for! Thank you to Tiffany and Company for letting me wear one of the necklaces that were included in the auction drawing. I actually won two spa days from the auction! This event was a great end to February; stay tuned for more events in March!

World Animal Awareness - A Beastly Haitian Affair

The Beastly Haitian Affair was two events in one! The Studio at Southlands in a wonderful photography studio that celebrated their grand opening while hosting a fundraiser for the World Animal Awareness Society. I was honored to attend this event, especially since I am an animal lover. The studio had a ton of amazing photographs and I was able to meet a lot of the photographers. I think Stella, my Chihuahua, and I will have to stop by for a photo session soon! Thanks Heather!
