Safehouse - Domestic Violence House Tour
During the Warren Miller event, I was able to meet two key people from Safehouse-Denver. Valerie was kind enough to walk me through the shelter and provide me with more information domestic violence in our community. Talking about domestic violence is definitely a touchy subject. I never knew how many women are victims of domestic violence within their lifetime. I am currently working on helping Safehouse obtain key items for these women. If you would like to donate, please visit: www.safehouse-denver.org.

Photo Shoot for Headshots - Here we come Miss International 2010

Ok so, who does not love photo shoots!?! I felt like a celebrity as I had a whole entourage of stylists helping me prepare for the shoot. One main person was missing and that was my mom. I think this was the first set of headshots that I have had taken without her there. A big thank you to MAC make-up, Evangelina Fernandez from Flaunt Salon, and Megan Anderson for making me look my best.

Boys and Girls Hope Home Visit

Boys Hope/Girls Hope provides at risk children with stable homes, education, financial and emotional support. I heard about this organization through a fundraising event they are launching. I had the opportunity to visit the home and see the girls who are living in the home. It is such a heart wrenching experience to meet these young ladies and see what their lifestyles entail on a day to day basis. The girls are full of love and personality. We had such a great time trying on my crown and banner. One of the little girls has an even bigger love for Cholula hot sauce than I do!

Go Red for Women Campaign Marketing Meeting
It is such an honor to be able to work with the American Heart Association. This year I am working on the volunteer committee and auction committee for the Heart Ball-Denver. At this meeting, we discussed how I can use my voice to gain more awareness about current events. It is amazing how many resources are available for people to learn about the organization as well as risk factors for heart disease.
