CFK: Day of Rock

In just 6 years Concerts For Kids has distributed over $1,000,000 in monetary and in-kind donations to beneficiaries. Today Concerts For Kids helps support more than 40 child-focused organizations annually through it’s multiple fundraising events and community service projects. The Denver Day of Rock featured 4 stages in downtown Denver with multiple band line-ups. I was in charge of working the VIP tent and the CFK merchandise booth. I have to say that our team rocked the merch booth! We raised a lot of money to help keep Concerts for Kids going and the various projects they do within the community. I absolutely love working with children and it is such an honor to be a part of such a reputable organization. They do so much within the community to help children and provide funding for various projects.

Hope Invitational Golf Tournament

I know what you are thinking. WOW! She has attended a lot of golf tournaments. I am in the process of learning more about the sport of golfing. I will keep everyone posted on my progress. The Hope Challenge Golf Tournament is a fundraiser for Boys Hope, Girls Hope Colorado. I could not believe how windy it was during the day. The sky was clear and blue but, the wind was unforgivable. Everything was organized and everyone’s effort paid off. They netted over $51,000! It was great to see everyone at the tournament.

Chefs Up Front - Boulder

Chefs Up Front is a fundraiser that benefits Operation Frontline. “More than 12 million children are at risk of hunger in America; in Colorado, one in seven children are hungry or at risk for malnutrition.” Operation Frontline leads hands-on courses that instruct adults and kids living in low-income families how to eat healthy on a limited budget. This organization is extremely important to me because I advocate living a healthy and active lifestyle. I have had to deal with being overweight in my personal life and nutrition plays an active role in my own lifestyle. This is such a great organization because they educate families and children about the importance of nutrition. This organization is always looking for volunteers and funding for their programs.

CFK: Community Day at Coors Field

So who says a “queen” does not get her hands dirty? Concerts for Kids has an annual Community Day in where they target children’s’ organizations and help them complete projects. My team was assigned to the Anchor Center for Blind Children. Our largest project was to stain their gazebo. Let me tell you, their facility is absolutely amazing! I felt really bad going into the building after I had stained myself orange from head to toe! I still have some stain underneath my nails J My team leaders were Denise and Dan who I met at the bowling tournament for Concerts for Kids. I also met some other great people who were as involved as I have been within volunteering in the community. It is wonderful to see young professionals working for a cause.

CASA of the Continental Divide Golf Tournament

CASA of the Continental Divide held their annual Golf Tournament at the Beaver Creek Golf Club. I was in charge of monitoring the “hole in 1” hole for an EPIC pass. Unfortunately, no one received the hole-in-1 prize but, we were able to raise $610 for CASA of the Continental Divide! My partners in crime were Ms. Nancy and State Senator Dan Gibbs. It was such a pleasure to work with them both and learn more about their experiences within Colorado. Mark Randall, a former Denver Nuggets player, was also at the golf tournament. Mark and I met at the Women’s Lighthouse Project Celebrity Cook-Off. It is great to see retired athletes doing great things and supporting fantastic causes. I will be working with CASA of the Continental Divide on more fundraising events within Summit County. They are always looking for volunteers!

CASA of Adams and Broomfield Counties Golf Tournament

I love participating at golf tournaments but, I am terrible at golf! I am definitely going to start taking golf lessons so I can show up the other golfers. ): I was placed on the “photo hole” to raise funding for CASA of Adams & Broomfield Counties. Wolf Camera provided their services by taking photographs and printing them for each and every team that participated. We raised $500 on the photo hole! I took photographs with each team and the “heart” of CASA. A few times I thought the heart was going to take me out from the wind blowing him around. Everyone I met that day has touched my life in a very special way. Thank you for having me at the tournament!

Dancing for the Youth: Kick off Party

The Dancing for the Youth Program pairs local celebrities with professional dancers that will perform a short dance routine at the Gala. The celebrity judges will select the best celebrity dancer and the audience will vote on their favorite celebrity dancer. I will be the opening act celebrity dancer that will give the audience a “taste” of what is to come during the evening. I absolutely LOVE dancing and I am really excited to be apart of this event. Help reverse the cycle of poverty for at-risk youth in metro Denver. By partnering with Dancing for the Youth at Goodwill, you are helping youth plan a successful future and rewarding career. Mrs. Colorado America Pageant

I have never been able to attend a Mrs. America state preliminary pageant and wow, the competition was amazing! There were 52 women who competed in the pageant and they were all stunning. I attended the pageant with Michelle Field (Mrs. CO Intl 2009), Cindy Harwood (Director – Colorado Intl Pageants), Roni Bibb (Mrs. CO Intl 2010), and Erin Feltes (Mrs. CO Galaxy 2009)!

Ella's Walk - Longmont

Ella’s Walk – 16th Annual Fundraiser benefitting the Longmont Humane Society was a tribute to Meredith Hope Emerson. I took my four legged baby Stella to the event to help raise money for the shelter. We were able to watch the papillions participate in Fly Ball and walk around to all of the vendors. Stella had such a great time at the event and she slept in the car all the way home. I am a member of the ASPCA and try to help prevent animal abuse and increase funding for our local animal shelters.

Keller Williams Red Day

This year Keller Williams paired with CASA to educate the community about the prevalence of child abuse and neglect within Colorado. My team was in charge of canvassing the Hampden and Stapleton area. We provided flyers to local businesses and recruiting some volunteers along the way. It was extremely hard to believe that CASA was not a well known organization within Colorado. Another fact I learned about CASA is that 80% of each dollar donated goes directly to helping children. I also had a wonderful helper, Miss Channing, who helped pass out flyers and direct the team into the businesses. This was an excellent educational experience and I met some great friends along the way!

Dream Gala - JDRF

The Dream Gala is an annual fundraiser for the JDRF – Rocky Mountain Chapter. This year it was held at Invesco Field in the banquet room. I have never been to Invesco Field so this was an awesome experience. JDRF is the leading charitable funder and advocate of type 1 (juvenile) diabetes research worldwide. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. I was one of the greeters along with my girls Casey and Virginia. They have diabetes and are apart of the Young Advocates team. They were such a pleasure to hang out with and learn more about what they do in everyday life. Mark your calendars for the Walk to Cure Diabetes that will be held September 12, 2010!

Boys Hope Volunteer Day

I have been able to work with Boys Hope, Girls Hope Colorado over the past 6 months and it all started with the Shaken, Not Stirred Martini Party. The Boys Hope, Girls Hope Colorado is an organization that provides at risk children with stable homes, education, and financial and emotional support. This day was dedicated to cleaning up the Boys Hope home. I was in charge of cleaning the blinds, washing the windows, and scrubbing the bathrooms. The Boys and Girls were in charge of trash, cleaning their rooms, painting, and vacuuming the floors. I was very impressed of how disciplined they were in trying to get everything “spic and span.” I always love working with this organization in terms of how they help children by giving them an opportunity to succeed.
