New Year's Eve Rodeo Celebration: Copper Mountain

Copper Mountain always puts on a great show when it comes to big holidays. This year, the annual New Year’s Eve party had a rustic rodeo theme. The girls from Conference Services really know how to put on a show. The food was absolutely amazing! My favorite was definitely the desserts. Chocolate anything will melt my heart. The evening also included a torchlight parade conducted by the Ski and Ride School, bonfires, and S’mores from the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. At the end of the evening, the crowd was dazzled with a firework show kicking off the New Year.

Salvation Army Bell Ringing Event: Summit County

This event was particularly close to my heart since it was in Summit County. It is amazing how much love and support comes from this small county. I work closely with the Rotary Club in local events and fundraising opportunities. I rang the bell for 3 hours at the City Market grocery store in Dillon, Colorado. A new meaning to “de-thawing” was drawn up that day. Through the snow and cold weather, I also came up with my own jingle. The more you dance and ring the bell, the more money contributed! In the end, Summit County raised over $15,000!

Introduction of the US Snowboard Team

All I need to say for this is … US Snowboard Team!! It was so exciting to meet the whole US Snowboard Team while they were training at Copper Mountain. Copper was the first resort in the United States to open up the first super pipe at 22 feet! I felt I was honored to meet such extraordinary athletes but, it seemed they were more excited to meet me. I also found out that Mason Aguirre’s sister is involved with the pageant system in California.

AHA Blood Pressure Screening at Macy's

It was such an honor to represent the Miss Colorado International organization at this event. Macy’s is one of the national sponsors of the American Heart Association. At this event, I was able to speak with customers about their risk for heart disease. We provided informational handouts and also a blood pressure screening station. It was such an amazing event and I met a lot of wonderful people. The girls conducting the blood pressure screening checks absolutely loved trying on my crown and banner. They were all amazing women by volunteering their time, on a Saturday, to help spread the word about heart disease in women. Macy’s also offered a 20% discount to patrons who came into the store that day. I have always told my Dad that shopping promoted a healthy lifestyle. :)

Art Show Fundraiser for AHA

Beautiful art and great company…while raising money for the Heart Ball! Fascination St. Fine Art hosted an art showing showcasing artist Fabio Napoleoni. Each painting purchased was signed by the artist and he donated 20% of the purchase to the American Heart Association. This event was extremely touching because Fabio’s daughter had to deal with heart disease at an early age.

Teen and Miss Colorado USA Pageant

This was my very first appearance as Miss Colorado International! So, who does not love going to pageants? I do wish more pageants had the talent portion included. I have been a dancer my entire life and that was my favorite portion of the competition. Congratulations to Jessica Hartman, Miss Colorado USA and Courtney Carter, Miss Colorado Teen USA.

Miss Colorado International Pageant Weekend

The weekend of October 24-25, 2009 I was fortunate enough to represent Frisco, Colorado in the Miss Colorado International Pageant. I can tell you that it was one of the best experiences I have ever had. I was lucky enough to meet several wonderful young women during the competition. I am new to the Miss International system itself but the research I had done for this system led me to believe that this was the system for me. The competition involved an interview, fitness wear, fun fashion wear and of course evening wear. The main focus for this system is community service work with a platform of your choice. This system encourages women to be a role model within their communities and stand up for various causes they believe in. I was fortunate to win the title of Miss Colorado International 2010 and I cannot wait for an exciting but, yet busy year ahead of me.
